Welcome to a very special 1 hour+ show featuring the first collaboration between Andy from The PolarBear Podcast and myself, as we embark on a quest to find the similarities and differences between our two native countries and discuss everything from politics to Hot Tamales.
But don't worry! We do some Swenews too! We had a blast doing this show, and truly hope you enjoy it...
Today's show is appropriately named Back in the Saddle again...
It's been a minute, and I give thanks to all of you who have stayed subscribed, whatever your reason. Real life (RL) has made it very difficult lately to get a good quality show out, but I'm determined to come thru for you the podcast listener. (as well as my own sanity!)
With that in mind, this show is a bit shorter than usual, and pretty much devoted to Part 2 of my interview earlier this year with singer/songriter Robin Stine of Pensacola, Florida whose latest CD DAYDREAM has been very well received. We talk about her relationship to Podcasting, and her thoughts on the subject. She shares with us what it takes to be a truly independent artist, and other insights she's gained on her artistic journey. It was a great pleasure speaking with her, and I'm sure you'll enjoy our chat as much as I did...
Take a look at this new music video that I produced for Singer/Songwriter Leah-Carla Gordone, and the new hit single "The Road" from her latest CD "Dancing On The Dragon". You can find out more at her website www.leahcarlagordone.com or on Myspace Music. I hope you enjoy it! So let me know what you think!
To those of you that haven't dropped your subscriptions, to those of you that are still subscribed, believing in your hearts that I haven't podfaded yet, despite the difficult year, I want to say thank you! Thanks for waiting, or being too lazy to clear out the old RSS feeds that aren't any good anymore.
I HAVEN'T PODFADED AND STILL WANT TO BRING YOU SHOWS!
Yesterday, I finally got a chance to check the site, and start to get things going again, and guess what happened?
That's right, no site! No site, no feed, no show, not even a homepage for my host, Blogmatrix.com, and no email telling me what was up! Imagine my surprise! Had I been cut off, squeezed out? Had the company gone under after being overtaken by the competition? What the hell happened? And why wasn't I notified?
I was able to find an email address for Blogmatrix support, and sent off an immediate email to find out just what was going on here. I was also able to locate the Blogmatrix.com blog which informed me that they were switching over to "V10" and had had some problems in the process. To their credit they answered immediately, and let me know that in the changeover they had elected not to move accounts that hadn't posted in the last 60 days. This included yours truly, and thus my show, and page was off the net. However, thanks to Tim Desjardins over at Blogmatrix, my podcast was back up and running by this evening. When I came home from a great open mic night in Monterey, there was an email from Tim informing me that my show was back. I went to my page at Blubrry.com, and all was well. They even gave me hosting credit for the inconvenience, which is a BIG help!
So, if you're still reading this I want to say thanks for sticking with me. I'll have a new show shortly, and be doing my best to get back on track. Maybe even serious! I've got lots of work to do to build my audience back up again, and I'm looking forward to every bit of it!
It’s amazing how just when you’re trying to get things going, real life butts in to throw you off the track. Not that I’m complainin’ mind you, just explainin’.
Today we’ve got Part 1 of the Robin Stine interview I’ve been talking about bringing you since, oh, forever. But it’s finally here, and I hope you enjoy it. Add music from the Podsafe Music Network, through in a dash of Spoken Word from the Ice Cream Man, add some Peeper Radio Theatre, Crazy podcasting News plus me jawbonin’ a bit, and you’ve got today’s show! We hit the one hour mark on the dot, give or take a few milliseconds, so it should be good for somebody’s commute. Yours maybe? Your favorite Aunt perhaps? Maybe you could download it for her to listen to on her one hour commute to the McDonald’s she works at.
We’re back! After a 3 month forced hiatus we return to bring you another fun podcast. In this show I talk about why I haven’t posted a show in three months (oh the humanity!), and why my Powerbook was hosed.
Also the first ever International Podcasting Expo happened this past weekend, and your man on the scene was there! That’s right, I attended seminars, opening ceremonies, and did my own podcast “live”, all virtually! I talk about the expo, and what it was like. We hear a message from Andy of the Polar Bear Podcast, and then there’s our newest segment “Crazy Podcasting News!”. Plus shout-outs to Eric Olson of Feedburner, my good pal Johnny D and his family in North Carolina, and Podcasternews.com. Oh, and we hear the great poetry of American Poet Robinson Jeffers, as read by Poet Taelen Thomas. Email me if you want to now how to get his CD’s. So, take a listen, and find out all about it!
Well folks, the Powerbook is back! No longer hosed, it’s running well, and I’ve been re-installing apps, and trying to get things back in shape. So, rest assured, I haven’t “pod-faded”, I’ve just been dealing with issues. Of which, there are still many to surmount in an extremely short amount of time. The clock is ticking, and there’s alot of chaos here at Studio T right now that’s sort of getting in the way of a new show, but it won’t be long now. I promise!
So, thanks for sticking with me, and stay tuned, we’ll be back after these messages…
So. After the last two weeks of being in computer hell, with failing hard drives, and all, my Powerbook is now completely hosed. It started with a failing hard drive, then escalated to being in pieces as my Apple savvy IT friend went at it to replace the screwed up hard drive with a new one. Unfortunately, time, exhaustion, and losing track of what screw went where (there’s a million of ‘em!) left my poor laptop pretty much toast. He got it back together but then the screen wouldn’t work! Crap! Tomorrow it goes to my local service center, along with it’s various pieces to be put back together. All this means that I have been holding up production of a new show since I’m not sure I can give you the same quality you’re used to with the equipment I have that is working. There’s still a chance I can get one out that sounds ok. If so, I will! I miss you guys! I want to rap with you, and play you some great podsafe music! I even have a new source for podsafe music, and an interview with Robin Stine , plus poetry, and more!
So don’t think I’ve pod-faded! I’m not out, just a little down. I’ve got some great ideas for 2006 that I aim to try out so I’m not going anywhere. Powerbook or no Powerbook!
Wish me luck!

p.s. Email from my listeners always helps to soothe the pain…
It’s stunning to watch when these two “things” come together in just such a way as to halt and change all your best laid plans. What was that saying about mice and men? At the moment I’m not sure which one I am as I run the treadmill of crashing computers, and a schedule that just won’t quit.
Of course, you don’t really care do you? You just want a new podcast, after all that’s why you susbcribed to this podcast in the first place, right?
On this we agree. I want a new podcast too! I’m chomping at the bit, but I have to get the machinery running again to bring it to you.
And I am. Even as we speak software is being reinstalled, and recovered. I know I’ve said it before, but a new podcast is coming. I swear, boss, I swear!
Please just bear with me as I get this sorted, and bring you another fine podcast that you’ll enjoy. Thanks for listening!
Thanks to everyone for downloading the show. It’s very heartening! Thanks also to all my new subscribers. Welcome! Tell your friends to stop by for some brain teasing!
It’s a crazy week with a rock video shoot I’m doing but the new show will be out this week come hell or highwater! So stay subscribed, and please vote for this show at www.podcastalley.com (if you like it of course!).

It’s another Tuesday edition of the show! C7 isn’t around but Garland T takes you through a fun 43 minutes or so. Our Featured artist is singer/songwriter Leah Carla Gordone out of Columbus, Ohio. She plays a mean 12 String guitar, and has a new CD out, DANCING ON THEDRAGON. We play two tracks, “The Road” and “Crystal Clear Infinity”.
We also play comedy from the Pod Safe Music Network by PEEPERRADIOTHEATRE. We hear “Holmes in 30 Seconds: The Hound of The Baskervilles”. Very funny stuff!
Plus more music from the Podsafe Music Network by UK Funk/Soul band Junkstar! We give you a funky track called “Factory” that’s getting some good play.
We also hear from another podsafe artist found at Garageband.com! AUDIOMOE is a producer living in Los Angeles as he puts out dope, bumpin’ tracks. We open the show with a track of his he calls “Persistence”.
Garland T talks about his new nephew, Colson Oliver, born on October 31, the newest member of the Planet of Brooklyn! We jump then to a wild article from Wired Magazine Founding Editor Kevin Kelly. He discusses the future of the Internet and Human life within it. It’s wild, crazy, kinda scary, and makes a lot of sense. The link to it will be posted below. Check it out. It will blow your mind! Also, a new Monterey TV show that I did some work on called 831 TV, and a play that I’m currently acting in, “MISALLIANCE” by George Bernard Shaw at the Staff Repertory Theatre in Carmel, California at the Indoor Forest Theatre. I even squeeze in a little commentary on the Portable Media Expo, and send out a big shout out to tha good peeps of Blogmatrix.com, my podcast host! I love the new look of the site!
Today we’re joined in Studio T by Marcos ‘LostBoy’ Cabreras, features writer for the Monterey County Herald (http://www.montereyherald.com), and founding member of Salinas, CA based Spoken Word/Hip Hop group BAKTUN 12. We ruminate on stupid, evil Nazi Children selling racism with their music, white nationalist parents and racist metal head punk rockers, gangsta rappers, lottery winners, obviously ridiculous scams, Mike from marketing, Oscar Zeta Acosta – Chicano activist, writer, friend and attorney of Hunter S. Thompson who wrote of him in his novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, Ruben Salazar & Chicano history, our email (or lack of), and the upcoming new release from BAKTUN 12.
Also, Marcos article in the Monterey County Herald on Ms. Veronica, a local Salinas gal who’s made good in the music video world working with artists such as Kanye West, in his music video “Golddigger”. Check below for a link to his article. Also check the Herald this week for his article on podcasting, and his experience making one. Music and links are below.
Til next week people, be well!

p.s. apologies for the frequent “Ghost in the machine” references. Though you can’t, we heard it. I swear! This weird whirring sound like a gyro winding down. Alcohol was NOT involved!
It's a weekly podcast with Garland T. I find time somewhere in the week for a rolling conversation about culture, society, and everything in between. Podsafe music, audio art, live guests, interviews, and good conversation is what I'm looking to find here. Maybe you are too? Join me in the search, and let's see where it takes us...
